Narrative
Two women with different lives come together
One struggles to survive after her mother throws her out, and the other runs a successful business. In my experience, ratings of TV shows are consistently accurate. Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black showed promise from the start, but its storyline veered into melodramatic territory.
It’s disappointing that talented actors are limited to projects like this
Unfortunately, the show suffers from the overlong, unrealistic storytelling typical of soap operas. While Tyler Perry’s work is not without its quality, his dramas often suffer from over-the-top storytelling. Predictable writing, mediocre acting, and amateur improvisation detract from the viewing experience.
There’s a lot of unnecessary nudity
The slow pace of the dialogue and plot, coupled with the repetitiveness of dialogue from episode to episode, and the lack of resolution undermine the show’s potential. My interest in this show stems primarily from my admiration for TS Madison’s personality and watching her start appearing in television and film roles; I would like her to be in more established productions that would really challenge her skills and help her grow. It’s heartbreaking to see a member of the Church succumb to the pressure to accept Hollywood’s questionable ideologies, stamping scripts that prioritize violence, disturbing sexual themes, and uninspiring narratives that end in tragedy.
Is Beauty in Black worth watching?
Actors who were once full of hope have seen their talents fade away as they take refuge in similar actors’ careers. Unfortunately, this pattern has characterized many of TP’s dramatic offerings. Only if your options are limited.
