The town was built specifically for the series in North Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia
Narrative
Uncover the secret of a town in the middle of the USA that imprisoned everyone who entered it. As the residents struggle to maintain a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threat of the surrounding forest.
Only the paved streets and driveways remain, and a fake town has been built on top of them
Known as the Beaver Bank Mansion, the site has a long history and many years ago housed housing units, a community hall, fire station, school, church, store, etc. (all demolished by 2004) to support workers at a nearby military radar base that operated in the 1950s and 1960s.

When Boyd enters the distant forest, he finds himself at the bottom of a well. Martin had (supposedly) lowered him into the room above, despite his wrists being chained.

The review looked like a mix of a few different shows like Wayward Pines, Lost and a bit of Under the Dome. I expected it to have a vague story after seeing that it was made by the same producers as Lost, but it has a solid story and likable characters.
A pleasant surprise
While not perfect, it has tension and is good enough to keep me going.
