Writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer wrote the title role specifically for Michael Keaton
Narrative
Andy Goodrich’s life is turned upside down when his wife enters rehab, leaving him alone with his young children. Goodrich leans on Grace, his daughter from his first marriage, as he eventually develops into the father she never had. “I wrote it 100 percent with him in mind,” she said, “to the point where if he said no, I would have buried it and myself in the yard.” The “Cinnamon Toast Crunch” box keeps rotating 180 degrees during the breakfast scene.

Hallie Meyers-Shyer brings her second film as director and screenwriter, a tragicomedy about parenting with Michael Keaton at his best. Goodrich’s simple yet loving story follows a father who seeks help raising his adult twin daughters after his second wife leaves him. The film works thanks to a delightful script and enthusiastic direction that allows us to have Michael Keaton in one of his best performances, where we can see the actor in all his glory and with all his talent pleasing and perfectly transporting us from comedy to drama and back again.
Also notable are her supporting cast, such as Mila Kunis and the young actors who demonstrate an avalanche of charisma
A character full of humanity and sweetness, but with a soul that really needs affection, which makes her an adorable character who will captivate you throughout her journey. It does not reinvent the wheel, it is a routine film that you have seen many times, but it is cute with funny moments and other emotional ones that make this tragicomedy a pleasant entertainment for a family weekend. It does not propose new things and always plays it safe in the aspects that it wants to explore in depth, but its entire cast gives it an extra plus that allows you as a viewer to have a good time watching this adventure about fatherhood.
, maturity, forgiveness and love
Recommended for anyone looking for something light and full of pleasant messages, it is a film that will make you have a good time and will be worth it without much expectation.
