Former CIA counterintelligence director James Jesus Angleton, also known as the “spy poet,” describes the intelligence game as “The Desert of Mirrors,” a phrase borrowed from a poem by T.S. Eliot called Gerontio.
Fassbender is great again, and unlike most spy dramas, it’s actually quite believable
In the world of intelligence, in search of truth, it’s hard to tell the difference between reality and its reflection, an illusion if you will, like you’re in a “Hall of Mirrors.” Presented by Graham Norton and guests: Cher/Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender/Josh Brolin/Jaylen Ngonda (2024). I don’t get all the negativity in the reviews, yes, it’s not quite Bourne territory, but it’s tense, fantastically acted, and keeps your attention.
Please don’t let the negativity stop you from watching, it’s worth your time
I haven’t seen the French original before, so excuse me if I don’t give a comparison, but it would be a shame if the comparison was negative, it would detract from the enjoyment of this. Maybe the pacing issues come from the binge culture, it’s probably slow if you want to watch several episodes at once, but honestly I don’t see any problem with that.
