After 20 years of absence, Odysseus (Ralph Fiennes) appears on the shores of Ithaca, emaciated and unrecognizable. The king has returned from the Trojan War, but many things have changed in his kingdom. His beloved wife Penelope (Juliette Binoche) is a prisoner in her own home, harassed by suitors vying for the title of king. His son Telemachus (Charlie Plummer) faces death at the hands of these suitors, who see him as a mere obstacle in their quest for the kingdom.
